cool, thanks alot! so, you're saying that for the near future, i should use the selection groups option or the download queue, but eventually i will not need to and will be able to just dload an entire .zip file of a show, with the .shns, .md5's, and .txt files attached? if so, this is going to rock.

Yeah, you got it, however it should be noted that the ZIP files don't include the TXT files. Not sure why it was created that way (Jon?), but you'll have to download that separately.

Also, timeframe for 100% completion of this project is certainly not in the "Near" future. In order to host the ZIP files inside of each show, we need to have some more free space on the server to create the zips. Right now, most of the servers don't have room to do this. If you use the "Server Status" link on the left, you'll see that most of them are between 95%-99% filled, leaving no room for Gigs of ZIP's to be created...

It's been awhile since I grabbed a full show zip, can anyone comment on whether the MD5's are in there who has done that recently?

i grabbed a show last night and within the .shnf zip file was just the .shn files. i had to get the .txt and .md5 by hand. I agree the system needs to be tweaked, it should'nt be hard should it? idealy the zip of loss-less files should have the md5 and .txt with it. the zip of the lossy's should have the .txt in it. i think it is on jon's list of things to work on still.

you can make a case that the txt files can change and invalidate the ones that are buried inside a zip file. Since the txt and md5's are so tiny, it isn't that hard to grab them compared to the "re-zipping" if the text file changes if they are part of the zip archived file.

Gotta say I agree with Matt's case. Even over dial-up, it's really easy to download these files. My vote is let's keep it to just SHN/FLAC's.

Hmmm, interesting.

The reason they contain only the FLAC or SHN files is not because that's how we want it - I've just found that the software we've written isn't perfect in handling multiple formats going into the ZIP files. It is on our list of things to eventually repair.

As long as we can make it automatically recreate the zip when a text file gets updated, I'm fine with putting them in there. Manually recreating them every time a song title gets updated would be a huge amount of work and error reports. :)

The deriver is built to do exactly that, just like when you update a SHN the ZIP is automatically updated.
